about the author

Johanne Arsenault is a Canadian writer, mother and grandmother. She has heard much talk of anxiety, depression and suicide in young people. In her opinion, many children no longer have the tools to navigate life’s given situations. She’s seen screaming fits or children simply spacing out because they have difficulty expressing themselves, and disturbed by children being over-medicated without getting to the root of the problem. Arsenault had the good fortune of living a relatively healthy life and raised three healthy children. Making Sense of Emotions, her second publication, surfaced while spending time alone appreciating the sounds, sights and smells of nature. During the writing of this book, Arsenault realised how much influence each of our senses have in everyday life and her concerns with today’s children. Her desire is for young people to understand more about why we have these senses and how we can use them to our benefit for better health and well-being. Senses and emotions go hand-in-hand, aiding us in our decision making and the control we have with our moods. The goal of Making Sense of Emotions is to be used as an educational tool and an emotional resource for children.

about the book

Making Sense of Emotions is a children’s book based on understanding and coping with everyday life situations. This book not only describes the link between all senses with our emotions, but also the importance of an overall good health. The goal is to help children appreciate the simple things in and around their lives, especially since we live in a world of technology. Readers will hopefully consider the control they have over their emotions by their thoughts and actions. Making Sense of Emotions is an informative book designed to provide a better understanding of one’s self and how our surroundings impact the way we feel and think. Children have a great imagination; they just need a little help learning how to use it to their advantage.
